How Rubber Mulch can Enhance Playground Safety

Rubber mulch has various advantages over plant material based mulches. It can be used for both landscaping and gardening purposes. It retains soil moisture as rubber is non-porous and does not absorb water on its way through to the soil. It also decreases fungus growth and plant growth and acts as a weed barricade, due to the fact that weed seeds dry out in the mulch before reaching the soil.
The elasticity of rubber mulch gives it a springy quality when used in a thick layer. As such it is the natural choice for playgrounds. The extra springiness gives extra safety for children when they fall of playground equipments. It is also widely used in horse arenas for footing material when mixed with sand. The most important benefit of rubber mulch is that it is environment friendly and pocket friendly. Being a onetime investment, the cost does not matter at all.
