The Responsibility of Parents in the Playground

Every parent has to have a certain amount of responsibility, especially when it comes to their children and the playground. Kids can be nasty little creatures, so the fact that, not everyone likes everybody, is something that is carried on from childhood.

I’m not saying that in a playground, you should keep your kids away from the ones that they don’t like, but try to have a responsible attitude to how they react to children that are not nice. You have to instill a certain amount of common sense when it comes to your kids, integrating with others, in the playground and not go on their defense at every opportunity.

If you are that over protective parent, your child will learn nothing, but if you have one grain of common sense, you will let your kids work out their differences, as much as they can. Something I have seen recently though, is parents sitting by and letting their children do what they want and not taking a blind bit of interest, that the kid is picking on and bullying some other child.

We have to remember that an argument between siblings is one thing, but an argument between two children in a park is another. Some parents will leave the kids to it and let them work it out for themselves, which is sometimes a good thing to do, but others will be straight there, shouting the odds at another person’s child. Not so good really, we should all know that arguments are part of the growing process and that they will happen, no matter what.

I suppose the thing I’m trying to get across is that, the playground should always be a place of joy and fun for our kids, not somewhere that they don’t want to go, because of someone else. So lets have a bit of responsibility with our kids and get them to play as nice as possible with each other.
