3 New Playground Activities for Your Children

1. Plant a tree

Well, you don’t have to haul an entire grown tree to the park. However, adding to the variety of foliage that surrounds your children’s favorite playground would be a great learning experience for everyone, including yourself. The kids will learn about life and the value of every creature to each other while in the process, you might learn something surprising about your kids. Best of all, everyone will reap the benefits.

I’m sure your children won’t miss their watering and visiting schedule, and you can easily insert that during playground time. Beyond basic care, go a step further and place rubber mulch on the soil around your plant. Colorful rubber mulch is better than wood mulch because the rubber is non-toxic, and the rubber won’t rot so there won’t be any risk of plant diseases. Your children would be happy to help you lay down the rubber mulch.

2. Put up a bird house

This could be a fun project for your kids and the other neighborhood children they play with. Instead of just the basic bird house design, you might want to expand the design a bit since more than 3 children are expected to be curiously peering inside.

After erecting the posts and foundation, it would be a good idea to have rubber mulch on the surface area, to better support weight and to make sure that your bird “mansion” doesn’t fall apart when the rain comes and the ground gets muddy.

3. Clean up day

Encourage environmental consciousness among your children. Designate one day every month to be the official public playground clean up day! You don’t have to remove the rust and empty the garbage cans. You can start small, like picking up random litter and putting them in the proper place.

As an adult, you could check the playground facilities for anything that might cause accidents. If you find that an area doesn’t have proper flooring, suggest the use of colorful rubber mulch for unmatched durability and safety for your children.
