6 Environmentally Friendly Actions You Can Do at Work Today

I don’t want to hear any excuses, you do have time to be environmentally friendly and here are 6 ways, you can be environmentally friendly today, as you prepare to go to work, and in the workplace too.
- Make yourself some sandwiches to take to work. You will be helping the environment by not driving somewhere to buy your lunch, and also saving on the packaging that comes with shop bought lunches.
- Don’t drive into work today! No don’t stay at home or ring up sick, but consider setting up a car pool with people in your local neighborhood so that you take in turns driving to work and giving the others lifts, and vice versa – less cars on the road, less carbon emissions. Other options could be walking, cycling or taking public transport.
- Make sure you recycle your morning paper, or read someone else’s paper, or even better read the news on the internet – whatever causes the least waste.
- When you boil the kettle at work for a coffee or tea, only put enough water in the kettle for however many cups you are making, so if you are making two drinks, don’t put enough water in there for ten. This is a waste of electricity, which is (a) not free; and (b) it is getting harder to generate enough electricity.
- Don’t print out your emails, and waste paper, if you can read them from the screen. Most companies are probably guilty of clearing a small area of woodland every year; make sure you are not contributing to this.
- Educate yourself, as to one way; you can help the environment when you get home from work today too. Like making sure you take any old tires to a recycling center. Recycled tires can be made into many interesting and useful things like fuel and rubber mulch.
