Corporate Team Building in Playgrounds
Public playgrounds just naturally give both children and adults a nice, warm feeling. Usually, we see children playing as the adults sit by the side, reading a book while waiting for sundown. However, most adults secretly feel the urge to join the kids in their fun, but they find themselves shy to do so.
Is there any written law barring adults to have playground fun time? So what are we all doing sitting and pretending to read a book?
Being part of a fun organization (like your office) gives you an opportunity to bring your colleagues out to where the fun is. Here are 3 tips to help you organize a team building session in the nearest public playground. The venue is free, and it gives everyone an excuse to just be.
1. Nostalgic, tear-jerker slide show
When you pitch the idea to HR, make sure you’re armed. Walking them through your idea while projecting a slide show of playground memories could make it easier for them to say yes.
Make sure you include pictures of cute children enjoying and most importantly, a victory picture of a child triumphing over a long-time bully.
2. Highlight cost-effectiveness
You can use the public playground free of charge. It would be a good idea to set your team building session during a weekday, so that you get the entire playground all to yourself.
You can also do away with expensive catering. Just walk over to the neighborhood deli and get yourselves scrumptious and healthy gourmet sandwiches. You won’t even have to worry about cleaning up as there are no utensils to put away at the end of the day.
3. Safety
Having your fun activities in the public playground is safer than going to an expensive resort or camp. However, it is still advisable to scout the playground for the basic safety features like rubber mulch flooring and padding.
Rubber mulch found in playgrounds comes in different colors that could help keep your group’s energy level up for the duration of your team building.
