Few people are aware that playgrounds are not exclusively for kids anymore. Now, playgrounds are becoming more popular because the concept has been revolutionized to cater to senior citizens.

The idea of a seniors’ playground is brilliant. Not only is the community brought together, older people, specifically those 60 years old and above, are encouraged to exercise and meet with their peers.

In fact, a research conducted in the University of Lapland, Finland reveals that older people who go to playgrounds build muscle, reduce fat, and improve their coordination, speed, and balance. Having fun is the objective, and because the children’s playground is nearby, it becomes easier for grandmas and grandpas to check on their grandchildren. (more…)

3 Ways to Spice Up Playground Time for Your Kids

It doesn’t have to be difficult for parents to keep kids entertained. The trick is to always stay 2 steps ahead of their boredom. You can successfully keep them entertained without having to spend so much on new toys. The best solution is to work with what you have and simply add a twist.

1. Bring something new (or old) into the playground
Not only can this tip spice up the playground, it can also breathe new life into old toys. There are a lot of toys that are meant to be played alone and inside the house. However, the same toys could be better enjoyed when you bring them to the playground with your kids. This will also attract other kids to play with your child. Games could be more enjoyable when played with new friends outdoors. Safety won’t be an issue if you are confident that your playground is safe. 1. Get in there and play
You’re there to watch the kids anyway, why not attach yourself to them without being just-another-annoying-grown-up? Not only do you get to keep a close eye on the kids, you also get yourself a great opportunity for you to bond with children in an outdoor environment. Do what they do and really be with them. You’d be surprised with the things you’ll learn from children in their natural environment. This is your chance to talk to them without sounding like a parent.
